Canon FX Top and Bottom Cover Removal

Removing the Canon FX top cover.
Remove battery cover.
Battery cover removed.
Remove screw.
Remove the two screws on either side of the viewfinder window.
Remove screw.
With film door open, stick your screwdriver in the fork of the rewind shaft, and unscrew the rewind knob.
All done here.
Remove film advance lever retaining screw.
Remove trim ring.
Wave washer.
Lift off film advance lever.
Lift off film advance lever cam.
Remove shutter speed/ASA dial retaining screw.
Lift off shutter speed/ASA dial.
All done here.
The top cover can now be removed.
Take your time. Some wiggling may be necessary.
Theres a good chance the bulb release plunger will fall out of the shutter release button.
If it does, this is where it goes. Apply small amount of grease into the hole before inserting the plunger. This will hold the plunger in place during reassembly.
Plunger in place.
Top cover removed - front.
Top cover removed - rear.
Remove viewfinder to clean back of pentaprism glass.
Viewfinder removed.
You can reinstall components for diagnostics.
Close-up - film advance side front.
Close-up - rewind side front.
Close-up - rewind side rear.
Close-up - film advance side rear.
Three screws hold the bottom cover.
Bottom cover removed.
