Removing the top cover of the Minolta X-700.

Removing the top cover of the Minolta X-700.
Two screws retain the front name plate.
Name plate removed.
Remove the two screws on either side of the viewfinder.
one screw on the rewind side.
Use a srewdriver (or similar tool) placed between the fork of the rewind shaft and unscrew the rewind knob retaining screw. Lift off the knob
Use a spanner (or similar tool) to unscrew the nut retaining the Exposure Compensation/ASA dial.
Wave washer.
Remove the Exposure Compensation/ASA dial.
Plastic washer.
All done on this side.
Use a spanner to remove the film advance lever retaining screw.
Remove the screw on the rewind side.
Lift off the film advance lever.
Remove the advance lever return spring.
With a spanner, remove the shutter button/film speed dial retaining nut.
Lift off the shutter button.
Lift off the shutter speed dial.
The top cover can now be removed.
Be careful of the flash sync wires.
